About Me

My name is Zack Briggs and I currently serve as a multi-skilled journalist for KENS 5, the CBS affiliate in San Antonio, Texas.

I present a wide-variety of stories daily in-studio and out in the field with an emphasis on capturing the human element.

In addition, I’m regularly using Twitter and Facebook, providing breaking news updates and sharing my stories with residents across South Central Texas.

I cover a wide range of stories both as a one-man band and with a photographer during the dayside and nightside shifts. My specialty stories remain in agriculture, city-county development, politics and an array of breaking news coverage.

Washington State is home for me. I grew up in the Tri-Cities, just a couple hours south of Spokane. I graduated from Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Journalism.

Upon graduation, I took my first TV news job in Helena, Montana, as a multimedia journalist, where I covered the 2014 Montana State Legislature, local education, city-county government and breaking news when it occurred.

Before making my way to the Alamo City, I worked in Little Rock, Arkansas, as both a one-man band and general assignment reporter. I aided in coverage of the historic 2019 flooding along the Arkansas River, which devastated homes and vegetation.

I've also worked in Tucson, Arizona, as a multimedia journalist, reporting from the border on a immigration issues and covering the impact of Monsoon on communities.

As for what I enjoy doing on my freetime, I love hiking, going to the movies and listening to Traditional Jazz. I also play the clarinet for fun, mainly blowing to the tunes of classic New Orleans Jazz.
